Internship Program Admissions

Briefly describe in narrative form important information to assist potential applicants in assessing their likely fit with your program.  This description must be consistent with the program’s policies on intern selection and practicum and academia preparation requirements:

Applicants for our four doctoral internship positions must be from APA accredited counseling or clinical programs, have completed at least three years of graduate training, have at least 400 AAPI intervention hours, a grand total of 1000 AAPI practicum hours, and have completed their comprehensive exams by the ranking deadline. The applicant must have completed a course in supervision or its equivalent. Candidates without a supervision course will be considered, but they may be asked to complete directed readings prior to the start of internship if matched with us. We prefer that the applicant’s dissertation proposal be accepted by the doctoral committee prior to the ranking deadline, but this is not a requirement. If you have questions regarding these criteria, you are welcome to contact the  interim training director, Margaret Cowles (515) 294-5056 or email at cowles@iastate.edu
